Beat the heat with movies, music at library

Come to Superior Public Library to beat the summer heat and enjoy programs and events the whole family will enjoy. We'll be showing a variety of movies throughout August.

Join us Saturday at 11 a.m. for a free showing of the award-winning "Coco," rated PG. Our "Music Movie Mondays" series wraps up with "A Mighty Wind" on Monday and "Dreamgirls" on Aug. 27. Both of these movies are rated PG-13 and start at 6 p.m.

Looking for a blockbuster? Come to the library at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 for "Avengers: Infinity War." The movie is rated PG-13.

Snacks are available at all movies.

The World Beat Drummers perform at the library at 2 p.m. Tuesday. This group of Myers-Wilkins Elementary School students learns and creates music in the drumming tradition of West African cultures and other cultures around the world. The group is directed by Teri Akervik and Michelle Bowker. The performance is free.

Our eighth annual Love Your Local Artist event is Sept. 28. We're seeking local artists and other creative makers to sign up for tables at this annual fundraising event. Email mehlel@superiorlibrary for details or to sign up.

The library is closed Sept. 1-3 for the Labor Day holiday. We reopen at 9 a.m. Sept. 4. We hope you have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!
