Charles "Charlie" Larson

Charles "Charlie" Larson of Iron River, WI. passed away Saturday, July 7th after a brief battle with congestive heart failure at St. Luke's Medical Center. He was born in New Brighton, MN on December 27th, 1940 to John and Ruth Larson.

He entered the United States Army in 1959 and was stationed in Turkey. Charlie was employed at Bailie Oil in Brule as well as Great Lakes Storage. He then went on to be employed by the Army Reserve 477th Medical Company, Duluth, MN, and retired after 37 years of service.

He married the love of his life, Marjorie, in 1962 and they settled in Poplar, WI. Together they led a band called "Nite Life" entertaining people across the Northland for many years. He also helped his daughter for many years delivering flowers in her flower shop.

Charlie was an avid Green Bay Packer fan as well as a Milwaukee Brewers fan and enjoyed watching dirt track racing. He loved to garden and spend time with family.

Charlie served on the Iron River Town Board as both a supervisor and a chairman for several years. Most recently he had enjoyed wintering in Florida.

Charlie will be sadly missed by his son, John (JoDee) Larson, Cumberland, WI. and a daughter Jaydee (Warren) Beede, Iron River, WI. He has 10 grandchildren: John Larson, Krystal Larson, Kailee Mortenson, Kaydee Mortenson, Jesi Grant, Sheldon Grant, Jacob Johnson, Taya Beede, Terra Johnson, Brooke Beede, and 10 great grandchildren as well as his special sweetie, Carolyn Johnson, and her family, Iron River, WI. He is also survived by his sister June Larson of Superior, his brother John (Mary) Larson of Duluth, his sister Bette Hanson of Poplar, his brother Bill (Mona) Larson of Bemidji and twin sister Carol Smith of Superior, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Marjorie in 2011 and son Terry in 1989.

Visitation will be at Downs-LeSage, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior, WI, from 5:00PM - 7:00PM on Thursday, July 12th and will resume Friday at 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 68160 S. George Street, Iron River, WI. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Carol Braun. Interment will be at Poplar Cemetery with full military honors after the luncheon held at Northern Pines Golf Course, Iron River.
