Superior hike, presentation focus on bird migration
Spy woodland birds on a hike through Superior’s municipal forest Saturday, then enjoy a presentation on birds that migrate through the area during the International Migratory Bird Day Celebration.
Meet at the North 28th Street trailhead at 7 a.m. for the hike on Superior’s Millennium Trail led by a local birding expert. Once the group completes the trail at Woodstock Bay, they will be shuttled back to the trail head.
At 11 a.m., Kim Grveles, coordinator of the Wisconsin Stopover Initiative, will give a presentation on “Helping Migratory Birds in our Backyards” at the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve, 14 Marina Drive. The day wraps up with a time for questions at 12:30 p.m.
Both the hike and presentation are free and open to the public, but there are limited spaces available. Call (715) 395-7270 to reserve a spot.
