The University of Wisconsin-Superior men's soccer team is on a roll.

The Yellowjackets ran their unbeaten streak to 12 games (11-0-1) and added to their lead on top of the UMAC standings with a 4-1 victory over the St. Scholastica Saints Monday, Oct. 8, at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

UWS (11-2-1, 6-0-1), which extended its winning streak of seven games, holds a five-point lead over second-place Minnesota Morris.

The Yellowjackets control play in the first half, outshooting the Saints 12-6 and in the process took a 2-0 lead.

Blake Perry scored first for UWS, sinking the ball into the left corner of the net in the 27th minute. Adrian Leal assisted on Perry’s seventh goal.

It went to 2-0 with 45 seconds left in the half when Gustavo Barbieri scored with help from Miguel Ocampo.

Darby Henderson scored for the Saints (5-6-1, 4-5-1) in the 51st minute.

James Bruce’s 11th goal of the season in the 61st minute restored a two-score lead for the Yellowjackets, who haven’t lost since Sept. 2.

Ocampo helped seal the victory for UWS with his first goal of the season in the 71st minute. Fernando Bicalho picked up the assist.

Monday's match was another hotly contested game as the teams combined for 26 fouls and six yellow cards.

The Yellowjackets outshot the Saints 25-13, including 12-5 on goal.

Dalton VonKaenel improved to 9-1-1 with four saves for UWS. Corey Bulheller had eight saves for the Saints, who dropped their third straight game and lost back-to-back UMAC games for the first time since 2002.

UWS hosts Martin Luther at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. It is also “Youth Day,” with all youth admitted to the match free of charge.
