TIGER RDP: NHS girls are 3-0

The Northwestern High School girls basketball team improved to 3-0 and won its Heart O’ North Conference opener 70-55 Friday, Nov. 30, at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser.

Jayda Klobuchar led the Tigers with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Karsyn Jones added 13 points and Mac Correll had 12 points on four 3-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists.

Madeleine Schofield led Chetek with 17 points.

The Tigers host Spooner Tuesday, Dec. 4, and play at Hayward Friday, Dec. 7. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.

Boys basketball

The Tigers improved to 2-0 with a 71-34 win over South Shore Thursday, Nov. 29 in Port Wing.

The Tigers had three players score in double figures, led by Brody Payton’s 14 points. Jagar Stillson and Andrew Klobucher added 11 points apiece.

Northwestern’s defense held South Shore to just eight field goals, including five 3-pointers.

Bjorn Branham led the Cardinals with 10 points.

The Tigers host Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.

The Tigers opened their season with a 68-9 win at Hayward on Thursday, Nov. 29.
